The city of Santee, California provides public education for students from kindergarten to grade twelve. The Santee School District administers the primary level schools in the area. There are a total of 9 elementary schools within Santee that offer classes for kindergarten to grade eight. The schools feature a primary and middle school section that are typically separated from each other. High Schools in Santee are governed by the Grossmont Union High School District. Santana High School originally opened its doors to the Santee community in 1965. Currently it houses roughly 1,500 students from grades 9-12. The well ranked high school received a 6 year accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 2014. Along with a wide selection of courses, classes and programs to choose from, Santana High School also provides a comprehensive interscholastic sports program that includes 24 CIF Sanctioned teams.
